Millhouse Primary School
Class 1/Foundation

Welcome to Class 1 (Reception & Year 1 Children)

We have all enjoyed working on our topic this term "The Farm". We have discovered what different animals produce and how important they are to us. We have enjoyed forming sentences and captions based on our project eg. The Pig went splash in the pond. We have also, during our modern foreign language classes, learned the French names of our farm animals.

During our Science lessons we are studying "Growing" - planting beans and watching them grow and learning how animals grow eg. from piglets to pigs.

Our recent visit to Cannon Hall Open Farm was enjoyed by all. We were encouraged to ask questions about the animals we saw and were allowed to pet them if we wanted to. The baby Rabbits and Guinea Pigs were very popular and the Lambs were very playful.

We are learning about numbers. How to add 3 numbers together and numbers that add to 10.

When the sun shines we love to make use of our outdoor learning area with lots of fun activities for learning through play.

Our topic for next term is "Around the World" we are hoping to visit Chester Zoo to look at which countries all the animals come from. Also we will be looking at how we travel around the world by car, boat, aeroplane etc.

We will be holding a sponsored "Spellathon" during Summer term to raise the money needed to buy a class pet.
