An ‘ACTIVE’ SCHOOL

Our school is very proud to have been awarded the Sport England Activemark for the opportunities we make available to our children as part of the curriculum.

‘Pupils have a particularly good knowledge of how to keep healthy and they participate enthusiastically in the wide range of sporting activities, recognised by the school’s Sports Activemark award.’ (OfSTED July 2007)

The whole school is involved in a “Healthy Living” week each year during the Summer Term, culminating in a whole school “Sports Day”.

Our children are actively involved throughout their school lives in a variety of sporting activities.

Examples include:
Gymnastics
Dance
Hockey
Football – 7 a side and 5 a side
Rounders
Cricket
Tennis
Basketball
Aerobics
Athletics
Fell racing
Swimming

Please see our ‘Every Child Matters’ work in the ‘About Us’ section.

Golden Time

At school we all love Golden time, which is a nationally recognised scheme to reward all the good behaviour in school. Golden Time is a weekly timetabled slot of at least half an hour, where children are able to embark on a creative activity of their choice.

These activities are well organised and highly motivational for all.  Examples include choir, bird watching, ‘Groovy Gardeners’, healthy cooking, and construction.
