What will the curriculum be like for my child if they attend school? If they stay at home will they be getting the same work?

The Government are encouraging children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 as well as key worker children/vulnerable pupils to attend school. Home learning lessons will continue to be set for those staying at home. The key worker group of children at school (unless they are accessing year group provision) will also continue to follow the home learning activities as they have been since the school’s partial closure.

For children attending school in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 as part of the government’s programme of wider reopening, teachers will focus on English and maths teaching in the morning, with a particular emphasis on early reading for younger pupils. In the afternoon a more practical and cross curricular approach will be adopted. An emphasis will be placed on supporting children to settle back into school and the new routines, with a strong focus on well being. Where possible, lessons will be conducted outside.

It will not be possible for staff to continue with the same level of communication with pupils once school opens more widely. Staff not working in school will take a lead with home learning and responding to pupils’ / parents’ queries. Further details and contacts will be shared shortly.
